What this site is

Best Ever Media publishes arguments. Every article makes one claim — that a specific album, film, book, game, or show is the best ever in its category — and spends a thousand-odd words making the case. We are lovers, not haters: we don't publish takedowns, and we only write about work we believe deserves the title. Then we ask you to vote, because the argument is the point.

How subjects are chosen

Editors pick subjects across five sections — music, movies, books, games, and shows — mixing canonical picks with cases you weren't expecting. We don't take payment for coverage, and no one can buy a "Best Ever" designation.

Our bylines

Articles are published under house bylines — Paco Picopiedra (music), Philip Dale (movies), Nick Smith (books), Franklin Snarl (games), and Lorraine Prescott (shows). Each is a persona of the Best Ever Media editorial team with its own beat and voice. The opinions are ours; the names are part of the fun.

Accuracy and fact-checking

Every article passes a dedicated fact-check before publication: dates, runtimes, chart positions, credits, plot details, and anecdotes are verified against outside reference sources. Interpretive judgments are opinion; factual claims are checked. If we get something wrong, we correct it — spot an error, tell us via the contact page and we'll fix the article and note the correction.

How we make money

Best Ever Media earns revenue from advertising and from affiliate links. When an article links to a record, disc, book, cartridge, or box set at a retailer — Amazon, Bookshop.org, and others — we may earn a commission if you buy through that link, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links never determine what we cover or what we argue; the recommendations in "Decide for Yourself" are editions we'd actually buy. Affiliate links are marked with rel="sponsored" and disclosed on every page that carries them.

Use of AI

We use AI tools in our editorial workflow — drafting, editing, and fact-check research — under human editorial direction. Every article is reviewed, revised, and approved by a human editor before it publishes, and every factual claim is verified against outside sources regardless of who or what typed the first draft.
